Hi, I'm Claire

Meet Claire

My path to holistic childcare wasn't a straight line—it was a beautiful, winding journey that brought together all my passions.

It started with nutrition. I earned my degree in Nutrition and fell in love with the idea that food is medicine, that what we put into our bodies shapes how we feel, grow, and thrive. But as I worked with families, I realized that nourishing children goes far beyond what's on their plates.

That realization led me to pursue a Master's degree in School Counseling with a concentration in Expressive Arts Therapy. I wanted to understand the emotional, creative, and developmental needs of children—especially those who experience the world more intensely than others.

For years, I've worked with children from newborn to age 5, with a special focus on twins, highly sensitive children, neurodivergent kids, and those spirited little ones some call "spicy." These are the children who need extra patience, creativity, and understanding—and they've taught me more than any textbook ever could.

Along the way, I became Asheville's #1 ranked nanny on Care.com, not because I follow a formula, but because I see each child as a unique individual with their own rhythm, gifts, and way of being in the world.

Education & Training

My work is grounded in a strong academic foundation that weaves together counseling, expressive arts, and nutrition.

I’ve had the joy of caring for children in many different family settings—from adventurous parents pursuing European residency to music industry and physician families in Asheville and Durham. I’ve supported twins from infancy through early childhood, helped families prepare for international travel, and created calm, nurturing rhythms around sleep, meals, and play—whether in Cascais, Portugal or at neighborhood playgrounds and botanical gardens.

I’ve also lived with wellness-focused, tech-free families, where our days were centered around nature: hiking local trails, swimming, and exploring the outdoors together. Whether I’m caring for a curious toddler, spirited twins, or a child moving through a big life transition, I bring a grounded, steady presence and a deep respect for each child’s unique personality.

Beyond in-home care, I’ve supported children and young adults in educational environments. I’ve mentored college-age students with diverse abilities, adapting coursework to their strengths, facilitated art activities and face painting at a Montessori camp, and worked at the Lucy Brock Child Development Center at Appalachian State University. There, I received my first foundation in the Reggio Emilia approach—student-centered, experiential learning in warm, relationship-driven environments.

A Philosophy Rooted in Respect

"I don't talk over children—I talk with them. I don't see challenges as problems to fix, but as opportunities to support growth."
